The Battle of Ypres actually includes three battles. They were fought in Ypres, Belgium. The town of Ypres was always under attack from the Germans because it was a key point in keeping them from the English Channel.

October 30 - November 24, 1914

The first battle in Ypres was held in this time period. The main reason that this war happened was because this medieval town in Belgium was conquered by the German army at the beginning of the war. However, the British recaptured the town after a period of time.

The German army attempted to regain Ypres and started the war against the British who held their positions. The German army skills on fighting and strategies were outrageous which costed British huge losses.

The war continued for 4 weeks until the French army arrived that held the line. With the weather became progressively worse, the German finally abandoned the Ypres offensive.
